1946, about the Revised School Grant Code in

Hong Kong.

The Governor has provisionally approved

certain amendments

of which we have now received from him. The

main financial implication, namely an additional

expenditure of £7,000/per annum was discussed

Mr. James' letter S52892/01 of the 20th August,

1946. The only other increased expenditure

involved in the amendments is that Heads of

Schools shall be entitled to a Charge Allowance

in addition to salary, and teachers whose

permanent domicile is outside the Far East shall receive an overseas Allowance at the rate of

£100 per annum for men and £70 per annum for

The Code lays it down that the salaries

of teachers who are graduates of approved

British Commonwealth, European or American

Universities or Training Colleges shall be at the

rate laid down for assistant teachers in the

women.
